One weekend together could change everything…

When her friend called to tell her about the funeral, Cassie wanted to say no. She had enough to handle with her own hollow existence. But she knew she should pay her respects to her old camp counselor…as long as her ex, Ben, wouldn’t be there. Except Ben is there. Still gorgeous, still angry, and still able to penetrate her defenses with one intense stare. All the reasons they left each other in a flurry of heartache start to fall away over one long, snowy weekend. But tough Cassie can’t truly open up to Ben when she knows confessing her secrets will leave her raw, defenseless. And the possibility of forever might not be enough to gamble on all the impossibilities of now.

What are you most proud of accomplishing so far in your life?
Getting my first book published.
How has your upbringing influenced your writing?
Since I write young adult and new adult books, I definitely pull on my past in my writing. I use my experiences and my feelings from “growing up” in all my books.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
In second grade. I wrote a Thanksgiving Story about a Turkey from it’s point of view: being purchased from the freezer, to cooked in the over, to eaten on the plate. The look my teacher gave me as she read it was all it took!
What inspires you to write and why?
I get inspired by words. Putting words together and making something beautiful from them. There is nothing better about writing than that.
What genre are you most comfortable writing?
Young adult and New Adult.
What do you consider the most challenging about writing a novel, or about writing in general?
Remembering that your job is first to entertain readers. Sometimes you only think about how the experience effects you, but really readers should be your main focus.
Have you developed a specific writing style?
I think my style is telling the truth. I am not afraid to say things and write about things that I think some writers might shy away from.
What is your greatest strength as a writer?
My wit.
What is your favorite quality about yourself?
My sense of humor.
What is your least favorite quality about yourself?
My impatience and anxiety.
What is your favorite quote, by whom, and why?
"For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo" From Romeo and Juliet by, Shakespeare because I think it describes most romantic stories perfectly. There is always sadness in romance, without it there can be no love.
