What are you most proud of accomplishing so far in your life?
First of all, thank you so much for interviewing me today and being part of the virtual blog tour for Undying Desire.
Most proud? That would be the birth of my son. I’m so proud of him. He’s my heart.

How has your upbringing influenced your writing?
There have been some challenging moments in my life. And because of that, I believe it’s taught me perseverance. To never give up on something you want in your life. It’s also taught me a lot about the importance of love and family in one’s life. Thus, I adore writing about love and how the power it possesses to change a person’s life.
When and why did you begin writing?
I began writing shorty after my son was born about seven or eight years ago. I’ve always had a passion for reading but never had the time to ever sit down and try to write. But after my son was born, and for several days of the week, I was a stay at home mom. In a way, it was sort of a challenge from my husband to try and write the book of my heart. I took him up on it. Did some research and discovered RWA (Romance Writers of America). Began taking some workshop, and the next thing I knew, I had found a new passion in my life.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I would have to say I became more passionate about writing after I’d fallen in love with paranormal romance. It’s addictive. I love the freedom one has in the genre to world build.
When did you first know you could be a writer?
You never stop learning in this craft. But I think I felt maybe I can do this after I’d received some very positive feedback from a well-known editor who is no longer with us. She read my first book and gave me incredible encouragement that I’ll never forget.
What inspires you to write and why?
Inspiration comes from everywhere, TV, music, other books. But my husband is my biggest supporter, and the way he loves me and accepts me—faults and all—is a huge inspiration.
What genre are you most comfortable writing?
For now, that is paranormal romance. I enjoy the adventure, the freedom, and the fantasy writing in the genre.
What inspired you to write your first book?
My love for alpha males with fangs who possess big hearts and troubled pasts.
Who or what influenced your writing once you began?
Probably my critique partners and groups at the time.
What do you consider the most challenging about writing a novel, or about writing in general?
The most challenging thing is the discipline required to make yourself sit down and finish the story. Novels are long with lots of twists and turns and well as highly charged emotional moments that take dedication to see them through and do them justice in the telling.
Did writing this book teach you anything and what was it?
It reinforced what I’d learn in question number 2: perseverance and you can do anything you put your mind to.
Do you intend to make writing a career?
Not at all. I was a nurse for over 25 years, and writing came to me later in my life as kind of a surprise new passion. But I’m so glad I’m here. J
Have you developed a specific writing style?
Not really. I’m more of a mix of pantser and plotter when it comes to getting the story written.
What is your greatest strength as a writer?
I think each writer’s greatest strength is their voice. Their unique way of telling a story.
What is your favorite quality about yourself?
I’m not quick to judge. At least I don’t believe I am. I’m think I am becoming a little more cynical with age. lol But I realize we’re all human and make mistakes, and I like to give a person the benefit of the doubt before I jump to conclusions.
What is your least favorite quality about yourself?
I’m not the most patient person in the world. Patience requires a bit of work on my part.
What is your favorite quote, by whom, and why?
“Most people are good and occasionally do something they know is bad. Some people are bad and struggle every day to keep it under control. Others are corrupt to the core and don’t give a damn, as long as they don’t get caught. But evil is a completely different creature, Mac. Evil is bad that believes it’s good.”  from Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning.
I love the message behind that quote. And I adore everything KMM writes. lol

ABOUT JESSICA LEE

Almost every author's bio states they've been writing since they learned how to read. It's what they've always wanted to do. Well, my journey wasn't so straight and narrow. I was a nurse for over twenty years and hold a bachelor's degree in science with a major in biology. So as you can see, my career path had originally gone in the opposite direction. I didn't discover my passion for the craft until after I'd had my son and decided to work part-time. I've always loved to read but had never read a paranormal romance. Then one night at work on break, I began reading Karen Marie Moning's Spell of the Highlander. I couldn't believe what I'd been missing, and I immediately fell in love with the genre. I wanted to write like that. I wanted to create worlds where others could find the same escape and fascination I did when I read my first sensual paranormal romance. And I hope that's what I've accomplished in my work. Please dive in, hold on tight, and enjoy the adventure. Just be careful in the dark—you might find more than you expected waiting for you there. Jessica Lee lives in the southeastern United States with her husband and son. She loves writing and can't wait for that quiet time each day when her son is in school, and she can get lost in another place and world with the fantastical, sexy creatures in her head. She’s a member of Romance Writers of America, FF&P, and Carolina Romance Writers.

  1. Just remember "patience is a virtue" but who the hell wants to be virtuous! Time passes too quickly to be patient, I say - go for it! Grab it while you can!
