Thank you for this interview!  I’d like to know more about you as a person first.  What do you do when you’re not writing?

I love to read, walk in nature and travel.  Right now, in addition to writing I am also teaching graduate courses in Healthcare Administration. I am a nurse and attorney with a long career in hospitals as Director of Risk Management and as In-house Counsel in California and Arizona.

When did you start writing?

I have done a lot of writing in my career.  But this book started as some quick tip sheets on relationships that I wanted to give away on my website. Then I wanted to illustrate it with paintings of how I think of the angels of inspiration.  Once I had the portraits of the angels done, it grew from there.

As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?

Courage to press the button – that all the revisions are done and the book is done.
(I can always see something where I think, if I just changed one more thing….)

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

I would spend a week in London for inspiration, and week on the beach in Jamaica to recover from London.   Then I would stay in a beautiful hotel on a lake or river in the mountains to write – maybe Lake Louise in Canada.  It is easier to hear your heart when you are closer to nature.

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

Sit by the pool and read something just for pleasure – probably a historical romance!

Back to your present book, Open Your Heart for Happy Relationships – 10 Shift Keys - What Your Angels Have Been Trying to Tell You for Centuries, how did you publish it?

I self-published with Amazon Create Space. I wanted to be in control of the cover, colors, angel portraits, interior layout, and font and fleuron choice.  I did not want to go through the cycle of submission and rejection (and possibly no acceptance) that traditional publishing entails.  As an avid reader, I love Amazon.  The thought of my book on Amazon was enticing.

In writing your book, did you travel anywhere for research?

Why was writing Open Your Heart for Happy Relationships – 10 Shift Keys - What Your Angels Have Been Trying to Tell You for Centuries so important to you?

It is a way to say thank you for the answers I had been given.  I am a mix of romantic and hopeful with practical and pragmatic.  I didn’t like the way my life was going – so I have been on a lifelong search for what would work better.  When I found ways that worked in the real world - I wanted to share what I learned over the years.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

When I am just waking up, when I am in the shower and when I am in nature.  Under those conditions – I believe we are more open to inspiration from the divine and from our own hearts.

Any final words?

There is always hope that life and relationships can get better.  The message of my book is  - Love is the answer, but don’t get it mixed up with self sacrifice. Also, there are simple ways to change.  We can stop the ways we usually respond in relationships and life (learned in childhood) that keep us unhappy and our relationships unfulfilling.

Love your very clever Blog title and Thank You!!
Eve Picquette
