15 Day Book Challenge - Day 4

Ok, today's post is going to be a fun one for me - I can't wait to read what other books people choose.  What is the topic?

What was the last book you flung across the room?

The older I get the more irritated I seem to get with books that just don't do it for me - in one way or another. The first book that comes to mind was just an imaginary fling as I was reading it on my iPad. I caved to the pressure and downloaded 50 Shades of Grey. As I began reading it, I couldnt' believe that something like this was so popular. Not only didn't I find it erotic, I thought that plot was weak and couldn't believe how the characters reacted. If I would have had this as a physical book, it most certainly would have gotten tossed somewhere...or burned.

I know I'm in the minority with this one, but so be it. It won't stop me from caving and reading popular books, I just hope that none of them are as bad as this. Wow!

I can't wait to read what you thought. Did you love 50 Shades of Grey? Am I just crazy? (wait, don't answer that).

  1. I haven't read this one. I tend to stay away from books that get super popular, unless I've read them or planned to read them before that. I'm sure I miss a lot of great books that way though.

    1. Hi Jenna,
I know what you mean, but I would have missed out on some great books if I dismissed so many. I usually don't play into the hype but this one really stunk. Poor plot, unbelievable character development (at least in my eyes) - never again. Thanks for stopping!

  2. FINALLY! I'm so glad you said you didn't like this book. Not only was it poorly written and uninteresting, but it was offensive! I didn't throw it across the room, but I also didn't finish it.

  3. I was waiting to see when this one would pop up. My mom had the same reaction to this one. I did read the whole series but, it wasn't great. Hopefully you don't have to throw any books in the future!

    1. Hi Brittany,
I hope my book throwing days are over, I am trying to get better about doing more DNF books if they aren't what I am looking for. I just have to large of a TBR pile to waste my time. Added you to my Newsblur and hope to get to know you better!

  4. I've heard so many terrible things about the 50 Shades of grey but then I've heard of another camp that is all for it LOL it's hard to decide whether to read it or not :(
