  • Thank you for this interview!I’d like to know more about you as a person first. What do you do when you’re not writing?

I play the guitar and write songs. I do home repairs and swear a lot at whatever I’m trying to fix.

    When did you start writing?

As a small kid, I always made up stories and characters. I didn’t start writing it down until later.

As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?

The day I realized I’d never be able to live in a world as interesting as the ones I could create.

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

Probably the basement. It’s quiet down there.

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

I’d try to sleep - but since that wouldn’t work, I’d probably record more music and write more books.

Where would you like to set a story that you haven’t done yet?

Outer space. I will do definitely do this in the future.

Back to your present book, Magno Girl, how did you publish it?

I formed a publishing company, Happy Joe Control. I liked doing it this way. I win every argument with the Board of Directors.

In writing your book, did you travel anywhere for research?

Yes and no. The book takes place in Manhattan. I’d already been there many times, so I didn’t need to go there just for the book.

Why was writing Magno Girl so important to you?

I like the possibility of writing something cool and absurd that might become popular.

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

My best ideas happen right while I’m typing. They also happen early in the morning. I guess I’m just more awake then.
