Thank you for this interview!  I’d like to know more about you as a person first.  What do you do when you’re not writing?

I am a doctor of Natural Medicine and I have a holistic clinic in NYC called, The Herban Alchemist.    I practice Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Naturopathic Medicine and Massage.  I also have a travelling natural medicine show called Backstage Alternative, in which I provide alternative medicine to Rock Bands on tour.  This was the inspiration behind this book.

When did you start writing?

I have been writing travel stories for about 20 years.  But I have been writing about health and natural medicine for about 5 years.

As a published author, what would you say was the most pivotal point of your writing life?

The night of the book launch party!  There were 500 people that attended and 400 were turned away at the door.  I had no idea I was so popular.  I knew this book would be a big success!

If you could go anywhere in the world to start writing your next book, where would that be and why?

My next book will be my travel medicine stories.  I think that any developing country would do since I seem to find the most interesting healing modalities in remote parts of the world.  The Amazon region of Brazil is calling me at the moment.  They have some really fantastic ethnobotany there and the rainforest is rapidly dwindling.  So I think that should be my next adventure.

If you had 4 hours of extra time today, what would you do?

I would go out my door in NYC and have an adventure.  Just walking in NYC is an adventure.

Back to your present book, The Rockstar Remedy, how did you publish it?

I had an agent and they shopped it to publishers.  The Agent auctioned it off and Harper Collins bought the book.  That was a great day!

In writing your book, did you travel anywhere for research?

My health plan comes from travelling around the world for 33 years with Rock Groups as their doctor.  My guinea pigs have been the musicians.  So now we get to try it out on the fans!

Why was writing The Rockstar Remedy so important to you?
I  wanted to take the message of health to an audience that would typically not be interested in health because they found it boring or simply unattainable.  In other words, I wanted to get more people to join the church, not just preach to the choir.  And since Rockstars are archetypal heros and heroines to so many people, I thought that they would be great ambassadors for this health revolution!

Where do you get your best ideas and why do you think that is?

I get my best ideas while I am travelling or having an adventure around my town, NYC.  I think that clearing my mind of worry and being in the present moment as you are when you are in an unfamiliar place, can allow fresh thoughts and ideas to download.

  1. Latest research found shows that acupuncture treatments are more successful in treating countless medical conditions. The costs of treatment by acupuncturist Mississauga can cost substantially less as compared to other treatments, with better results.

  2. I was completely loving Star Trek up to this movie sinking, poorly conceived, terribly transparent plot point. What is PCOS?
